Ask a Librarian

If you are in need of research help, you are always welcome to visit a librarian at the Ask Here desk on the first floor of the Library. You are also welcome to use any of the following options. We respond ASAP to emails.

Reserves

We maintain a collection of all textbooks used in CORE classes at Flagler College. We also maintain a collection of Course Reserves, textbooks reserved for specific courses as determined by Faculty. You may check these books out at our Circulation desk and use them for 3 hours at a time inside the building. At Faculty discretion, some Course Reserve items can be checked out for 24 hours and used outside the Library.

Services for Faculty

Library Instruction

We are happy to provide tailored classroom sessions to meet the research needs of your students. To request an instruction session or learn more about what we can do for you and your students, contact Jack Daniels, the Teaching and Learning Librarian at danielsj@flagler.edu. Please note that in the interest of best practices for student learning, research instruction sessions will not be scheduled unless the leading faculty member of the course is present on the day of instruction, thus ensuring a comprehensive session while maintaining student motivation.

Course Reserves - Faculty

Faculty may place course materials on reserve for an entire semester upon request and approval by the Circulation Department. Access the Course Reserves Guide here or see below.

Lead Time

Please provide us with your materials 48 hours before the time you want students to have access to the materials. You may drop these materials off at the Library's Circulation desk for processing. You may download and print our reserves request form ahead of time, although we maintain this form as a hard copy at the Circulation desk for you as well. Please only place items on reserve that will be used by your students in the current semester. Reserves will be removed at the end of the semester unless you inform the Library otherwise.

We process all reserve materials into our FOLIO catalog system to enable students to more easily identify and borrow through the Library. Students and staff will be able use the library catalog to search Course Reserve materials by professor's name or course code. We also attach barcodes to reserve materials to facilitate borrowing and use within the Library.

Fair Use

If you are placing any materials on reserve other than books or DVDs, then please read our Fair Use worksheet and determine whether or not use of your materials will fall within the Fair Use doctrine. For example, if you are placing photocopies of articles or book chapters on reserve, then you will need to read and fill out the Fair Use Form (available below).
