Mission

The mission of the Proctor Library is to support and enhance the educational mission of Flagler College by providing quality facilities, collections, services, and instruction to students, faculty, and staff. The Library provides efficient access to print, audio-visual, electronic, and other technological services and resources that support the curricular, research, and learning needs of the students, faculty and staff. The Library also collaborates with faculty to teach students to be critically thinking individuals who will be lifelong learners and well-rounded citizens. In addition, the Library functions as a physical space where students, faculty, and staff may pursue individual study or collaborative work in a friendly, welcoming environment.

History

The Proctor Library, a cornerstone of the Flagler College campus, is located at the crossroads of Valencia and Sevilla Streets. This architectural gem, spanning three levels, marries form and function, echoing the College's signature Gilded Era charm. Mirroring the grandeur of the Hotel Ponce de Leon—an opulent retreat crafted by Henry M. Flagler in 1888—the library's architecture resonates with history both inside and out.

Named after Dr. William Proctor, who led Flagler College as president from 1971 to 2001 before assuming the role of Chancellor, the Proctor Library stands as a proud monument to our institution's unwavering dedication to scholarly pursuits and deep-rooted historical significance.
